Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a complex process that has a number of different types. All SEO types have the same goal: To optimize a website for greater visibility in search engines. Today we know about the classification of SEO. So, let’s start.
Types of SEO:
Mainly There are 2 types of SEO:
- White Hat SEO
- Black Hat SEO
White Hat SEO:
If it is not breaking the rules of search engine optimization then it is White Hat SEO. The biggest rule of White Hat SEO is, it is work on site content and other things than a search engine. One of the most important rules of White Hat SEO is, it should create in a way that is useful to the visitor. Not for search engines. Another name of White Hat SEO is Ethical SEO.
Black Hat SEO:
When SEO breaks the search engine rules then it is called Black hat SEO. This is the unethical way. So it’s another name is unethical SEO. With Black Hat SEO, a site can never be in the top SEO rankings for a long time. This puts the site ahead of SEO ranking for a short time.
White Hat SEO is 2 types:
On Page SEO:
All optimization within a website is called On Page SEO. Some On Page optimization has to work while creating a website. Because the search engine will find your site. So inside a website, SEO’s everything that is done on-page optimization.
Contents of On Page Optimization:
- Keyword research
- Meta tags and Meta descriptions
- Google site map
- XML Sitemap
- Use of tags in title
- Use of ALT tags
- Use of h1-h6 tags
The most important on page SEO guidelines are:
Optimize Page Titles: This is a critical and serious SEO factor. Page titles are shown in the search results and should be interesting for users to click. The title of a page should also give search engine bots enough clues on what the page content is all about.
Optimize H1 Tag: While the page title is shown in the SERPS, the H1 tag is what is shown as the top heading of a page.
Optimize Headings: Besides the H1 tag a page needs to have sub headings (H2, H3) for the different sections. In case of long form content, subheadings make the page easier to read by users and scan by crawlers.
SEO for Images: Any types of images used on a page should be properly optimized, otherwise search engines cannot understand what they represent. Things like optimizing the filename, file size and ALT tag are critical for image SEO.
Page Formatting: Publishing a page with text and images without spending time to beautify the content is not a good SEO practice. Although Google cannot ‘see’ a page like a human, they have ways to understand how a page looks or if it’s full of ads and popups and this is taken into account during the ranking process.
Off Page SEO:
All optimization outside of a website is called Off Page SEO. Which website has more traffic, it has more value to the search engine. It’s a like marketing. That is, the marketing that is done to promote your website is off page optimization. The importance of off page optimization is immense. This will bring you a lot of traffic or visitors to your site. It will also help the search engine to rise in the ranking.

Besides promoting your website to get backlinks, you should also work on promoting your brand and encourage conversations about it in the various social media networks and forums.
There are another type of SEO. That is Technical SEO.
Technical SEO is a very important step for the whole SEO process. If there are problems with your technical SEO then it is likely that your SEO efforts will not generate the expected results. The good news is that after you do a technical SEO audit of your website and fix any problems, you won’t have to do it again.
Technical SEO refers to the process of optimizing your website for the crawling and indexing phase. With technical SEO, you can help search engines access, crawl, interpret and index your website without any problems.
It is called “technical” because it has nothing to do with the actual content of the website or with website promotion. The main target of technical SEO is to optimize the infrastructure of a website.
The most important technical SEO guidelines are:
- Check and optimize robots.txt to make sure that any search engines can correctly access your website.
- Add and verify your website with Google Search Console.
- Use the COVERAGE report to find and fix crawl errors.
- Create an XML Sitemap and submit to all major search engines.
- Optimize your site structure and URL structure.
- Follow SEO Friendly web design.
- Create websites that load fast on both desktop and mobile devices.
Types of SEO in Business Perspective:
- Local SEO
- Global SEO
When SEO is done on a web site for a local business is called a local SEO. When we search for something specific in a particular city or country on Google, it is called local search, and the way in which a website is SEO for its website position on that search is called local SEO.
Suppose, a patient wants to meet a dentist but he has no idea about a good doctor in Dhaka. Then he will search in a search engine for the best dentist in Dhaka city. If a doctor has a web site and has a local SEO on that site. Then the doctor will get several patients every month.
For local SEO some methods are:
- Add the Local Business schema on your homepage.
- Create a Google My Business Account quickly.
- Register your business with trusted directories such as Yahoo small business, Foursquare, Yelp and other.
- Promote your website on local directories and websites (for example: online local newspapers).
Global or international SEO is one step further ahead than local SEO, in that it aims to increase visibility and bring a worldwide audience to a website through localized search engines. Global search engine optimization is the right SEO to use if your product, service or business is trying to appeal to a worldwide target audience.
If you know that a good share of your website visitors come from a different country than where you’re located, speak different languages, or both, then it may be time to make some changes to your website to create a better experience for all of your international visitors.
